Why do many hackers try to exploit innocent people and "take credit" for it like terrorist groups?

Like LulzSec, ooooh you really screwed lots of innocent sony customers. This was to "punish" sony for prosecuting a hacker? That is how terrorist organizations behaved during the 1970's and 80's. One thing that they may have to learn the hard way is don't mess with the people, cause they'll come looking for their heads on a platter. And a politician looking to win his or her next election may just give in. Am I wrong? If I am, I'm happy to hear other opinions and even change mine.
